CV/Bio

a self taught painter/artist i've never believed that anyone could teach you how to be creative. i never wanted anyone to tell me how to paint. thus i never have found the need or reason for formal training. i believe that whatever comes out of the artist in its purest form is what is the most desired. the most appealing, the most interesting. you can argue that schooling can teach technique, i for one have always preferred to rely on the magic of painting. the basic interaction between artist & canvas. overcoming the intimidation of the empty white space. the primal instinct, the battle. the creation of something beautiful out of the beginnings of nothing. sometimes something intimate. sometimes something possibly unnerving. i paint from a feeling. an emotion. a need to let it out. my work has been called instantly healing, positive , enlightening. i have, over the course of my career as an artist, shown my work first in coffee shops & record stores, then wherever would let me hang something. finally on to galleries in northern california and arizona. i have shown in both solo & group shows in both states. my work is part of private collections in hollywood, san francisco, berlin, texas, phoenix, sacramento, new york & chicago. i currently work & show out of my studio in phoenix. the doors to the ambient studio are open every first friday of the month (evening hours) in conjunction with the first friday art walk. my work is  also viewed by appointment.
